During the Saturday episode, January 13 of PGT, the Korean contestant asked Robin to help in with his card trick. But the action star refused, saying Kim should speak in Filipino.
“Iho, Pilipinas Got Talent. Magtagalog ka kasi magmumukha kaming katawa-tawa kung mag e-English kami dito para sa’yo. Pilipinas Got Talent. Magtagalog ka, iho,” Robin said. Angel Locsin, the co-judge of Robin on the show came to the rescue and coached the Korean contestant. She tried to help Kim by teaching him a few Tagalog words and by volunteering for his tricks.
Netizens slammed Robin for how he treated the Kim on the show. But Robin eventually hugged and shook Kim’s hand when he was able to speak in mixed English and Filipino, with Angel’s help. The Korean contestant apologized to the judges, and said he will learn to speak Filipino.
Kim said: “Sorry for my lack of Tagalog. I do apologize, Robin, again for my lack of Tagalog. I promise next time I will learn.” Robin also made amends with Kim, and said he was just rebuking a son.
He said: “Pasensya ka na anak ha, anak na rin kita. Nadisiplina ka lang ng tatay mo. ‘Yun na lang ang isipin mo. Nadisiplina ka ng tatay mong Pilipino.”
